Ms. Bethany Ordiniza

Hello everyone!

My name is Bethany Ordiniza. I am a graduate from the University of Montana, and I am super excited to be working with your students. I have two music degrees: one in flute performance, and one in music education. Although I love performing, teaching is where my passion lies.

I started flute in the sixth grade in Havre, MT. During the past eleven years, I have played in just about every ensemble you can think of. I have done drumline in marching band, saxophone in pep band, trombone in jazz band, and flute in wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, chamber groups, and solo performances. I have also performed in choir, theater, and world music ensembles such as Balinese Gamelan.

My past experience working with students spreads across all ages and subjects within the arts. I have taught private flute lessons, worked with the choir at Washington Middle School, general music at Paxson Elementary, and the bands, choirs, and orchestras at Big Sky High School, all in Missoula. I have been a staff member at the BSHS Marching camp for the past two summers, ran week-long theater camps for children aged 5-15, directed a musical, and have been a camp counselor at the UM Summer Music Camp for three years.

My decision to become a music teacher was heavily influenced by my high school band director. Thanks to him and his program, I found a community and a purpose. I found a place where I was accepted, encouraged, and provided with all the opportunities needed to thrive. Band is the reason I stayed out of trouble. It gave me something worth focusing on. Without it, I fear I may not be where I am today. I want to provide this same environment and opportunity to other students for generations to come.

Outside of music, I enjoy reading fantasy novels, painting, cooking and baking, and spending time with family and friends. I am a sucker for coffee and baked goods, and I hope to one day convince my boyfriend to let me adopt a small army of dogs.

I just wanted to introduce myself and extend my thanks to all of the Arlee music parents for allowing me to work with your students. I look forward to the adventures and learning experiences that the future holds. If you would like to contact me, feel free to do so at bordiniza@arleeschools.org. Go Warriors and Scarlets!

Sincerely,

Bethany Ordiniza
