    Prehistory - 1870
     
    U.S. History lasts throughout the entire school year for 8th graders. We begin by studying Native American cultures throughout the country and finish with the American Civil War. Along the way we study the European nations that came to the new world and their early governments here. We also learn about wars like the American Revolution and the War of 1812, as well as the social and political movements that changed life for everyday Americans from diverse cultures and created the foundation of our nation.

    Chapters 2 and 3
     
     
    Monday, August 26th: Class introductions and syllabus review.
     
    Tuesday, August 27th: Take notes on the Powerpoint for chapter 2, section 1 and complete the 5 Senses Worksheet (in class only.) Due in class today. 
     
    Wednesday, August 28th: Read chapter 2, section 2 of the textbook and complete the Read and Sketch Worksheet for Chapter 2, Section 2 Due Thursday, August 29th.
     
    We will skip the rest of chapter 2 and go straight to chapter 3.

    Friday, September 6th: Read chapter 3, section 5 of the textbook and complete the Worksheet for Chapter 3, Section 5. Due Monday, September 9th.
     
    Monday, September 9th: MAP Testing - No class
     
    Tuesday, September 10th: Begin the Chapters 2 and 3 Review Packet.  We will continue working on this later.
     
    Wednesday, September 11th: MAP Testing - No class
     
    Thursday, September 12th: Complete all questions from the Chapters 2 and 3 Review Packet. Due Wednesday, September 18th.
     
    Tuesday, September 17th:  Complete all questions on the Chapter 3 Learning Target Worksheet. Do not do both sides of the worksheet. Due Wednesday, September 18th.
     
    Wednesday, September 18th: Study for the chapter 3 test. Make notecards - they will be worth extra credit and can be used on test day.
     
    Thursday, September 19th: Chapters 2 and 3 Test.
     
    Monday, September 23rd through Wednesday, September 25th: Use the Family Crest Directions to create a family crest for yourself on the Blank Family Crest Worksheet.     Thursday, September 26th: Take notes on all underlined information from the Powerpoint for chapter 4, section 1. Also complete all the questions on the Worksheet for Chapter 4, Section 1. Due Monday, September 30th.
     
    Monday, September 30th: Read chapter 4, section 2 of the textbook and complete the Worksheet for Chapter 4, Section 2. Due Tuesday, October 1st.
     
    Tuesday, October 1st: Take notes on all underlined information from the Powerpoint for chapter 4, sections 3 and 5. 
     
    Wednesday, October 2nd: Read chapter 4, section 4 of the textbook and complete Worksheet for Chapter 4, Section 4. Due Thursday, October 3rd.
     
    Thursday, October 3rd: Use the Colonial Maps and the Colonial Map Project Directions to fill in the Blank Colonial Map. Follow the directions closely and only fill in locations listed in the directions. Due at the end of class today.
