• Common Core Alignment Timeline picture
The implementation process of Common Core Standards is in the Planning and Awareness Phase with a professional development day devoted to it in March 2012.
The Standards Alignment Year will be 2012-2013, with full implementation in 2013-2014.  In 2014-2015 the student assessment MONTCAS will go away and a new assessment that is going to be more authentic and computer adaptive will be implemented.
The Transition Phase has been discussed with administration with the old assessment being done in grades 4th, 8th and 12th. The new assessments are grade specific and occur at the end of each year. Teachers will know what skills the students should have in order to move into the next year.
Common Core Standards are moving away from narrative reading into more informative and persuasive text.  Additionally, Indian Education for All will be incorporated, so there will be no separate set of standards.
